Will stuff from a Mini work?

Post by Quentin »

Does anybody have both a Honda 600 and an old Austin Mini? I wonder
if things like windshield wipers, door seals, seats, seat belts, and
brake parts from a Mini would work on my 600. If so, are Mini parts
easier to come by due to the great volume of cars built?

I believe you can use the same tires (but not wheels.)
Beyond that I doubt much interchanges.

Hi everybody,
Long time since my last posting. I will answer you as far
as my knowledge could. My dad has an Authi Morris Mini 1000 E (Authi
was spanish brand name for Mini Morris license), so this one is
almost the same. And i bought an honda Z for my mom. First of all,
headlights and the ring next to them, in both cases are the same,
the band is the only difference (Koito -funny brand- for the Honda,
Kinby for the mini) it are completely interchangeable. Wiper Arms, i
havent try to interchange them, but the measures are the same, of
course brushes are interchangeable. Wheels, both with the same
measure (10") but different wide, Honda ones are wider, even the
brand is different (Kumho for the honda, Firestone for the mini).
Both have the same horn, with almost the same brrrr noise.
Im sure im forgotting something, but as soon as i see again both
cars together ill get you informed.
What you cant interexchange:
Air Filters, due to the carb type (Minis SU goes in the center of
the air filter container)
Lamps, the small ones at the dashboard (Thread ones for the mini,
clip ones for the honda)
Seats, Honda ones uses a rail to fit into the car instead the hinges
used in mini seats. Maybe you could make something to adjust them
but will be so difficult. Rear ones seems to have same measure but
different shape.
What i dont know:
Seals, a mini guru friend of mine told me the way to check if mini
gasket could fit honda windscreen, but i havent done it.
You could see the our mini here:

And the hondas we have just in the photo section of this page (Honda
Z project) the yellow one, and the latest one:
