Has anyone put an oil pressure and head/oil temperature guage on a
Honda 600? I feel a bit abusive not having any engine monitoring
equipment in my recently completed car. I don't remember any oil
galley ports to even hook up an oil pressure sending unit or line.

We run a head-temp gauge on ours - the sensor is acutally in the head under the cam-holder. (We had to use aircraft wire that has a metal shield - because of the high temp.) Hopefully I can find the pictures I took and post them.
I did hook up a normal oil pressure gauge, and as I was already warned didn't get any reading. The next step is to try a fuel pressure gauge - since they can read from 0 to 15 PSI, maybe (slim) it can pick up the real low pressure that these engines run at.

Oh - and there really isn't a good spot to hook up an oil sensor - no ports. If you buy the oil cooler adapter from Bill then you are diverting the oil from the stock filter which is probably the only spot where you have a chance of getting a reading.
And again I would imagine you'd have to have a pretty sensitive sensor - they run at 3 to 5 PSI (please correct me if I'm wrong Bill!)

The head temp gauge I use is one that is readily available from any VW
shop. The sender fits under the sparkplug and will normally read 350
degrees on a SW gauge. As to the Oil pressure, I was reading about 8 psi
after warm up with 20W50 oil. At startup there is up to 80 psi. That lasts
for about 5 minutes. Oil temp was another one that I looked for, it was
normally 165 to 170 down the Freeway, at a stop light it would climb up to
more than 210, without the cooler. With a cooler it hung around 165 to 180
all the time.
So why should you watch the temp on these areas, well it removes doubt
and monitors your engines heat. Heat after all is what causes most of the
damage to your engines internal parts. Wear is caused by friction, the
20W50 is the viscosity of your oil and the hotter an engine gets the more
your oil viscosity breaks down which is how wear starts. An oil cooler with
a remote filter does several things, it adds oil to your engines total
amount, allows for a better filter system, keeps the temperature of the oil
where it will do the best job of keeping your engine running for a long
time.
What are the draw backs; You have to watch the hoses, clamps and system
overall. After all your taking the oil out of your engine and allowing it
to be close to the road where it could be knocked off. Has this happened,
yes. Tocks in the road, curbs, and a number of other things could and have
caused the hose to come lose or brake off the plumbing from the center pipe.
But I drove one for 6 years and never had any trouble.
