tires

anyone know of a place ie: tire rack etc. that sells original tires? i dont mean actual ones from the 70s all though im sure someone has some, i mean new technology but old look? dont they make those? where a company buys the old molds?
any wahile on the subject, anyone change thier tire size? what about wheel size?
i am thinking of putting smaller sidewall tires on my car so itll look lower ( dont forget i dont like driving old cars except around the block and onto a trailer) so itll look better sitting there while i wax it hehe.

I have a set of 13 inch rims with 195 60 13 tires that were welded and re-drilled to fit my Honda 600. the tires end up 1/8 to 1/4 inch taller.

Coker bought the molds from Michelin, you will pay $80ea tire from
Coker. Kumho's are what we run these days besides the Yoko A008's,
but not recommended for stock rims.

you will want to check it out. It tells you how to figure out when your
tires were made using a code on the tires. Its at

If the video freezes on you just click on the bottom progress bar
circle and drag it to the right a litle and let go.

       I saw the 20/20 segment on aging tires and was very interested in what they had to say.  I was disappointed by the segment because it was big on sensationalism and low on content.  My personal
experience did not support the conclusions of the show.  I have noticed that tires which are mounted and under pressure do show wear with age especially if they are subjected to weather,  temperature changes, and sunlight.  The tires on my cars which have been stored indoors and unused are not showing the same
rate of deterioration.  I have a stockpile of tires I purchased new 20+ years ago which I have been drawing from over the years and I have not experienced any problems.  I will be monitoring them more closely, though.   Click here to see some more info on tire aging.
       Something which I see coming out of all this safety concern is the federal government mandating that all 50 states require annual safety inspections on vehicles.  Some states already require safety inspections of cars although I haven't noticed this trend in the western US.  With new cars being more reliable and less major servicing being required,  I suspect the auto service industry is looking for new ways to generate business.  I live in Oregon and I have seen various programs offering free volunteer safety inspections of your vehicle being offered by the auto service industry.  I am sure they are collecting data to make this a mandatory program since our state legislature has brought up this topic for discussion a couple times.
Are they really concerned about my safety or their job security?

Well, I snagged the little blue 600n in Florida - it was only an hour
away. One owner car - tires are shredded. Where's the place to get
tires? Tire Rack didn't have a listing..... I'll also be needing brake
hoses. kits, door and window seals, and an accelerator pump. I see Bill
Colford is listed for the seals, and other stuff. What's the best way
to contact him ? I've also contacted a friend who can have the
windshields made. They'd be about $300.00, and he needs a preorder of
about 40. Any interest? Thanks !

performance , but it's an ok tire.

if all else fails, contact Mini Mania in either California or east

spend and you want Michelins, contact Coker Tire. They bought the molds
