Honda Car People...
I own two Honda 600 sedans and a couple extra engines and transmissions and misc. engine parts that I've picked up over the years. I bought my first one new in August of 1970 and I found another late model 1970 car in Montana about five years ago. It has been 15 years since I've actually seen one on the road. I am constantly looking and hoping to find one sitting in someone's field or yard, but other then the one I found five years ago...they just don't surface very often anymore and I never see them advertised for sale. I have no idea about how much the cars are selling for these days if they are in decent running condition. I plan on keeping and rebuilding the two cars that I have. I realize that "value" is a nebulas thing and will vary with the buyer, seller, location and availabilty, so I'm looking for a ballpark figure. How about the coups? I would love to find one of those. Any thoughts?

I purchased my '72 sedan (a rust free and but
un-restored and very neglected, running, and driving
car) with big 4 bins of spare parts, some bumpers,
grills, trunk lid, 2 sets of mag wheels, one set of
steel wheels... all for $1200 back in March of this
year.
I think I got a deal. Sometimes I see good condition
cars on ebay going for a $2-3K.
I did, however, read somewhere, I think it was in
Hemmings motor news, that the coupe is on the
"sleeper" collectibles list, and that they predict
they will significantly increase in value in the near
future. It's all speculation, but there is no doubt
that it's a rare little car and that will only
increase in value.

Thanks for the feedback. It gives me some idea of prices. If I remember correctly, the coupe was only built in 71 and 72 whereas the sedan was imported to the Western states of California, Oregon and Washington beginning in June of 70 through 72. Then I believe in 73 Honda began importing the Civic's. As I mentioned, I bought mine in August of 70. In early September of 70 I began a cross country trip starting in Seattle. I drove my car across the northern states on highway 2 arriving in Boston Mass and the east coast in November of 1970. From there I drove south to New York City, down the eastern seaboard states to Atlanta GA, then west across the southern states into LA, then back north to Centralia WA ending in mid-December of 1970. I believe my little car was the first Honda Car to make it to the east coast. I spent about $250.00 dollars on gas for that entire trip. Going across the flatlands of Montana and North Dakota I was getting up to 55 miles to the gallon with a tail wind. I probably averaged 45 mpg traveling 60 to 70 mph. Keep in mind that they still had "gas wars" at that time where occasionally I could find gas for .25 to .30 cents a gallon. These gas prices and the concept of "independent" gas stations are a thing of the past.
I still have that little car. I plan on bringing it back to life soon. I miss driving it. Since that first trip, it made shorter trips to Colorado, New Mexico, back to LA, Tucson Arizona and all over the western states. It has over 150,000 miles on it which is pretty good considering it is a little two cylinder. Yep, it was overhauled once when it had about 100k miles. Then the spedometer cable broke and I drove it without recording milage for awhile...I think it's about time for a second rebuild since it's not currently running. Good memories, great times and lots of stories in that little car. One night at bar closing, I had 8 people and my guitar case stuffed into that little car! Hard to believe...but true.
