600z perfomance nudge
i know this is a restoration site, but is there any info on performance or engine upgrades my 600z has a hard time with all the hills in my area
Re: 600z perfomance nudge
Hi Aaron;
Yes, there are several things you can do to increase performance. None
will do as much as fitting over sized pistons and tuning the engine. But,
remember, a brighter candle burns brighter but for a shorter time. I
wouldn't do more than 1.0 over on the pistions, then I would regrinde the
cam and have lash caps made to take up the reground cam clearence. Up grade
your oil pump and replace all the seals, gaskets and such. When I say up
grade the oil pump I mean, have the pump body sleeved, new piston rod and
accentric. Then look into installing an oil cooler.

If you don't mind the gear grinding....install a non synchromesh
trans in your coupe. 3rd gear is better for hill climbing than the
synchromesh, you can also speed shift it with or without the clutch.
The non synch trannies have a problem with the differential bolts
which join the 2 halves. I get them welded to hold them together.
