Muffler

My '71 600N is finally up and running again but needs a new muffler.
At the moment it's a soup can held on with a couple of clamps, which
actually seems to work pretty well. Any recommendations on where to
get a replacement muffler?

Ok Is it the the long flat one or the round one at the
back that you are looking for ?
I have just been down this track for my LN360 and
managed to find one that fitted at the rear.
If its the longflat One up front I cant help.

I assume that the LN360 and the 600n are the same in
the exhaust department.

Hi Linda Heres what I will do, I will measure mine up and you can
tell me if thats the size you need. They make universal mufflers down
here in New Zealand mine cost around $110.00 NZ dollars about $80 USD
right now I think. If it s what you need I will get the model number
and the shop to contact and you can deal with them direct.
Its not a genuine part but will do the job as mine did, better than a

A Screamin" Eagle bike muffler works great and sounds good to!

I went in to a muffler shop and had the entire pipe and muffler replaced from the swivel joint all the way back. I had the guy put a glass pack on it and it runs great and sounds cool.
The installation is professional and I'm very happy with the work.
I went to Babe's Lightning Muffler in San Jose in case any of the locals wants to know.

I like to hand hammer each half of the pipe then seam weld the 2
halves together. For the muffler I get #10 Hershey's Syrup can from
Costco and pack them with the finest selected stranded fiberglass.
However, and this is the important part, do not cut the end off the
syrup can to drain the chocolate. I like to use a 1934 church key
beer opener and puncture the can on one end and pop a pin hole in the
other end to drain. The draining process may take up to a month to
complete. Drill a series of 10mm holes in the pipe where th can will
be installed and silver solder the can to the pipe I have created.
Ack, it's really late. 2:03am, I gotta go.

Hi Linda
Well Ive done the measure up and the muffler is 12inches
long and 16inchces round with off set intake and output.
Sorry I could not find any numbers any where. But if this will do the
job Im happy to hunt it down at the muffler shop for you.
When I had mine done I see that they took the bracket on the side and
welded it to the new muffler to meet up with the mounting point on
the chassis.
