not starting...

hi everyone!
i rebuilt the engine in my '71 n600 two years ago, and the engine seemed to run great.
then i noticed oil was coming out of the exaust, in a spraying manner. i figured it was
because i didn't retorque the engine bolts,
so i started to drag my feet, cuz i bought new gaskets and hondabonded them all, including
the camshaft and breaker housing. got busy with other things, and a year went by.
battery went dead, so i bought a new one and the car started right up. oil still came from the
exhaust.
i've taken the rockers out and retorqued the engine bolts, put them back in, and adjusted
them to spec. now the car won't start at all, and the starter sounds slow. in addition, the
small coil thing attatched to the starter is smoking where the lead from the battery attaches.
sorry for the long message, but is there something simple i'm missing???

Jim;
Check grounds, and do a full charge on the battery, check your cables
and try again. It should turn over quickly, if not then check the starter.
Miles has some parts for them on his site.
If it started before you worked on it then trace back to where it was
changed. Normally thats the problem.
