I see that. The main bearing at the alternator side gets its oil via a gravity feed from the oil in the cam housing. Anyone rebuilding these engines needs to make sure they put this bearing and the gasket on correctly or the bearing will not receive sufficient oil.

Another problem I've seen on engines I've taken apart is that some people use way too much gasket sealer. It doesn't take much to get squeezed into the area where oil returns back down (or goes up) and slow down the feed.
