Hi guys I'm new here.
I've had my N600 for about 6 months now, the 1970 model. I was told it has the later carburetor (1972 or 71 I believe). The only carbs I've dealt with before are the current racing carburetors. Do these carburetors require any tuning? Are there even different jets available for them? Basically I'm 90% certain that it is the carburetor, because it floods. The car does not start consistently. Once it is flooded (if it has been sitting for a while trying to crank), it's flooded pretty good and sometimes requires a push start. Once it runs and is warm, or is driven everyday it starts nice.
Where can I find some information on these carbs? I've adjusted the idle plenty, but I have not took it apart or messed with jets yet. It was also very hard to get it started when it was cold here (55 F). Do these cars usually start right up?
Thank you
Carburetor Tuning?? Starting?
Re: Carburetor Tuning?? Starting?
You can find the documentation you need over at Steve's site .... click here .
From your msg, it sounds like the float level is not correctly set or your needle and seat are not shutting off. If the electric fuel pump keeps clicking and does not shut off after about 10 seconds, then your needle and seat in the carb are needing attention (perhaps just a clean up of this area).
Honda used to have available different jet sizes for the carb but that was discontinued about 15 years ago. If you want to change the size, you will have to make your own jets.
All carbs require tuning but I don't think that is your problem. Go with the stock settings found in the docs on Steve's site. Your carb would probably benefit from an inspection/cleaning and having the fuel filters (in the carb and under the electric blower motor in the engine compartment) checked/replaced.
If you have the later model carb, look at the coupe service manual for setup info. The correct float height setting would be 0.807 inches. If you have the older style carb, use the sedan service manual.
good luck,
Dale

Did you ever get this problem resolved on the N600? If so - how?
