Have been driving my coupe for a couple months now.
Everything is looking/working great. Everything is as close to stock as I can get it, except for my electronic ignition I made.
It is different than any car I have owned!
The gear shifter is strange the way it comes out of the dash and rotates, but shifts OK. The car starts right up with a little choke and idles at about 1,200 rpm and revs smoothly to 6,500. I have been running non-alcohol 89 oct fuel. Acceleration is OK off the line and to about 30mph. After 30 it's really slow, but had it to about 80mph on a flat road. It you keep the revs up and shift at about 6,000 it will keep up with most traffic. The power assisted brakes with silicone brake fluid work good. It tracks straight and handles good for a car with skinny 10" tires. Because it is so narrow you have more room to use all of the lane, kind of like a motorcycle. I actually like driving it, I would say it's fun to drive because you really have to work hard to keep up with traffic, nobody knows your actually trying real hard. Checked gas mileage around town and average 36 to 38mpg, beating on it!!
Still have a few things I need to make it perfect.....
I want to thank everyone who posted info and sold me parts.
Another Honda 600 1972 coupe is back on the road.
Thanks again
Lyle

Re: Driving my 72 coupe
Hi Mark, I made a replacement aluminum rotor with magnets in it to trigger the spark, the joys of owning a machine shop. Do a search on this site for electronic ignition. See attached photo file.
It is working great and the Florida heat has had no effect on it.
As you know the advantages of an electronic trigger is cam lobe wear and point float have no effect on the spark. As far as increasing performance I see no increase over a non-worn out point system.
The engine does rev easily to 7,000, but I don't want to rev it that high because of the Honda 600's weak crank.
I do feel the exhaust is a big restriction on power output and will look at that next. The heater is not a big need here in FL.

Re: Driving my 72 coupe
Hey Dean,
I'd like to know what you are running on your 600 as well.
I constantly have problems with keeping the points dialed in.
I started to make my own EI but I'd rather buy something so I can work on one of my other projects.
Can you please share manufacturer and model number?
thanks!
