This is a very good information i have an outboard with a similar system ( chrysler ) i have 2 Z600 you can see the pictures i am thinking ind build a roll cage and copy the body panels in fibeglass, i learn to drive on a Z600 in 1980,so this car deserve a reborn with the clne engine used on chinese atv, very similar

I'm not as mechanically talented as some on this site and I would like to see someone come up with a complete kit with instructions for a conversion to a electronic ignition that would be a plug n play version.

I personally think Honda 600 contact point sets are dark age technology and just wanted to get rid of my points and associated high RPM point float. I spearheaded the Pertronix electronic ignition for the two stroke Subaru 360's and Suzuki Jeeps with the Nippondenso ignition. For 99 bucks you get drop dead reliable starting, a set dwell, and never have to change points again, and no point float!. I thought about doing the same for the Honda 600's. I think there is demand.

Mark. what are you looking for? For the price of that part you can build a complete ECU and completely control your timing. Add a few sensors and fuel injection. I got my Megasquirt kit for $207. I used it to run timing only with a carburetor.

David, that is a good way to convert almost every engine over to a more reliable system. I have done that on a few vehicles. My custom Honda system uses a hall effect and has held up well, but my engine won't rev past 7,500 under load. The cam that lifts the points on the Honda has only 2 lobes so I don't think we have point float!
Their are lots of reasons the engine won't rev past 8K, the profile of the Honda's camshaft's is the big limiting factor, it's designed for torque not 8,000 rpm.
Mark, sorry about your camera. As far as you shifting at 8,000+ rpm, get a tach that works. The tach jumps from 6,000rpm's to 8,500 faster than an F1 car. Maybe the 36hp engine is breaking the tires loose at 55mph,
I drove my coupe yesterday and the tach climbs smooth and slow under load in 3rd gear, I bet your shifting at 6,500 to 7,000.
I like your video's but give us some accurate info.

I hear you Lyle. I'm not happy with my Harbor freight cheapo tachometer either. It is fun to watch it wiggle, but I trust it not for accuracy

If you can measure 0-60 by GPS, it is safe to assume THEY know where you are! They may Ben know who you are...They just can figure out the little red car. But they will, no matter how many billions it costs.

Mark your 0-60 time is what the road test magazines said the car did when it was brand new. So your sedan is running great! I "raced" to my shop today in my 72 coupe and hit 81mph indicated, so about 77mph actual. These cars are fun to drive, nobody knows I am full throttle and slamming gears. : ) Lyle
