I plan on having my engine rebuilt apart from buying Mikes
performance heads what can I do to give my honda speed or am I
barking up the wrong tree?

Re: speed
Hi Jamie;
I would really like to talk about that exact issue, how much power
can you get out of a Honda 600 engine. Because you can't get anymore speed
due to the gearing of the transmission and mechanical spark. I have driven
several cars with 1.0 over pistons and a reground cam and I even jetted a
couple to try and give them a better top end. The mechanical Spark drops
off a little over 75 miles per hour. But they do get there faster. But
they all dropped off, or lost spark at almost 80 miles an hour. I had one
owner who brought his car over and said he could get 85 out of it. What I
found was a Constant transmission speedometer gear was used with a full
synchro transmission. And, although I have never driven one, it is said if
you attach an electronic ignition system instead of the points to the
distributor greater speeds can be achieved. With points it becomes
mechanically impossible to advance the spark to the RPMs of the engine and
you loose spark a so many RPM. What I was told happens with the electronic
ignition is that it fired both cylinders several times during the
compression stroke of one of them.
My question is, who has the electronic ignition systems?
