Re: spare parts

Hi David;
I think I am hearing two questions, First is if your parts are worth
anything? Second is will you need them in your restoration? The best way
you will find out if your parts are any good is to know what the engine was
like they came off of. If the cases are in good condition and you have not
rebuilt your engine then I would say keep everything until your car is
running. Or at least as many parts as your wife will let you keep. I am
lucky, my wife as a similar affliction with cooking, and I believe she still
has the first set of pots and pans she received as a wedding present 31
years ago. So I am allowed to have considerable stowage for car parts, and
not just Honda 600 Cars. I also find that it is easier to swap parts than
purchasing them. As to the engine cases, I always try to have the same
numbers match on the car. And often as not your car was worked on in your
area or the previous owner replaced the engine and kept the original cases
just to support the "Do All the Numbers Match" question. If they do, it
helps when it's time to sell, even if it's to purchase another Honda 600.
So the short answer is keep your parts until your car is finished or
you are sure you will not need them.
