Bill,Is a coupe quiet with just the muffler,or does it need the
resonator tail-pipe? I know the sedan muffler needs a resonator or a
primary silencer like the book calls it. What do you use if you
can't get a primary silencer on a sedan? I looked for a 1-1/2" glass
pack thinking it would work, but couldn,t find one. riceburner006

Yea, it's a mother trying to find something that will work. There are some
round resonators used by Cadillac that Midas had on the shelf for a while.
You might try them.

My old sedan had just a short glass pack on it. I had it for about six months and was sick of the roar. It was pretty loud.

Re: Coup exhaust systems
I just had a new exhaust system put on my coupe - NOS muffler with a
resonator that the local exhaust shop just pulled off the shelf.
Fits, looks and sounds great. If you still haven't located a suitable
resonator I can ask the local shop what they used. They also had a
small stainless tip that I had them put on - a little larger than the
tailpipe, dressed up the back of the car and looks almost like a
factory option. Can send a picture if you'd like.

Hi Ray;
Yes, if you can find out the application for the resonator that would be
a big help. Send me a picture and I will post it on the site.

Re: Coup exhaust systems
Guys,
Just got caught up the messages. I will take a picture of the exhaust
system tomorrow (Sunday) and get the info from the exhaust shop early
next week, hopefully Monday. Sorry for the delay - I usually read
this stuff every day.

Re: Coup exhaust systems
I'm not sure how to send pictures; couldn't find any way to attach
them to this message.Let me know how and I'll send pictures of the
resonator installed in my coupe, plus the nifty little exhaust tip.
The resonator fits in front of the muffler and fits nicely in the
channel in the center of the unibody. I talked to the owner of the
muffler shop this morning and he told me that this resonator is not
typically available in the US, and he doesn't want to part with the
few he currently has in stock. However, he offered to get me hooked
up with his importer/wholesaler later this week. If ther is some
interest in these resonators (I assume they would work just as well
for sedans), I'll buy a minimum order (10 or 20) and resell them. I'm
not sure, but am guessing they would be in the $20-30 range plus
shipping. Will check into the pricing on the exhuast tips as well.
This is not what I expected - thought I'd get a mfg name and part
number just to pass on.
Will let you know what I find out later this week,
