Valve cover gasket

Post by geez_tech »

I will need to check the valves and also pre-oil the top end from
sitting so long, is there a gasket I will need for this or if in decent
shape is it re-usable?
Thanks,

Mike;
The valve cover gasket should be good and reusable if there are no cracks.  But, you can lube the top end by pulling one of the spark plugs and cycling it with the starter.

Thanks Bill,
I want lube the valve train after I check the valves in case it is dry from sitting so long before I use the starter to crank the engine along with the top of the pistons as you recommended.
I still have quite a ways to go as I want to check the carb and that diaphragm you mentioned before.
