motor is in getting worked on.

Well i took my motor to B and B auto in Washington state to get it
worked on and found it needs some lower end work to. I dont know all
the work that needs to be done becuse they went on vaction untill the
27th but they did say labor was going to be around $1,600 or so plus
parts which some can be used from my other motor. Seems a bit high in
the labor cost. What do you all think? If i have to spend $2500 to
3000 i may just part out the car and try to recoupe some of my lost on
the car do to the fact the guy that sold it to be said he rebuilt it.

I wonder what they meant by lower end work?  The only things I can think of in the lower end are;
1)  cam chain tensioner  (trivial and can be done external to engine)
2)  cam chain guide / roller system  (crankcase needs to be split)
3)  crankshaft problem  (major expense)
If the crankshaft is being removed or worked on,  you might as well go through the entire engine and check/repair it.  The $1600 price may not be too out of line if their labor rate is $100 / hr.  Does that price include machine shop labor?   16 hours is about the time needed to disassemble the 600 engine,  clean it, inspect the parts,  make up a parts list,  deliver the cylinder head, pistons, and barrel to a shop for machine work, pick up the parts from shop, reassemble the engine, and then time it.  If B & B is not needing to split the crankcase and you delivered the engine to them already out of the car,  then $1600 sounds like it is on the high side.
You might also check with Dan Hall Automotive XXX-XXX-XXXX) in NE Portland  or Dale Maslen Machine XXX-XXX-XXXX) in Forest Grove, Oregon.  Both are full machine shops and have experience in Honda motors.  And if you need any work done on your camshaft,  check with Oregon Cam Grinding XXX-XXX-XXXX) in Vancouver, WA.

Well picked up the motor from B&B automotive in washington state and
finely got it put in yesterday. Hooked it all up and took it for a
test drive....sounds goooooood.. Now it is time to get some driving
in. And yes the shrounds are in. Thanks for all the help.

I am going to try to taks some more this weekend and put them on..
Hey by the way for gas what it the best way to go..Reg or prem. not
going to be using this car for a everyday driver, just the weekend
drive around car..

     When B & B rebuilt your engine, did they install a "hot" cam in your engine?  The cam in his coupe had some performance........ I was wondering if he installed a similar cam in your engine.

I do believe it all ready had the better cam in it and was in good condition.  I had to replace the crank (which I had a spare engine that had a good crank) One piston, rings and some other parts in the motor and tranny..
