I saw Miles' message regarding the E-bay policy not to accept checks,
nd it infuriated me that Ebay is so greedy! As any of you know who
have done business with me, my checks are good, and my chosen method
of payment! I send checks for a couple of reasons: First, I have my
own receipt that I can keep for years. 2nd, I buy an item, and I'll
pay for it the way I choose! 3rd, I didn't get my FICO score to be
over 800 so that someone else could tell me how to do my
transactions... and finally, 4th, E-bay owns Pay-pal, sucks money in
at both ends, charges buyers and sellers (if we use Pay-pal), and the
last time I read their contract, it said that they would have to have
access to my personal checking account to guarantee payment, and that
just isn't going to happen! If someone doesn't let me pay the way I
choose, then I just don't do business with them, and that STARTS WITH
E-BAY!!!
For you sellers, I know they are starting to inconvenience you, but
for us buyers, they have always treated us like red-headed step
children. They catered more to sellers, since you paid their fees,
and we almost had to PROVE fraud before they would even look into the
non-scrupulous sellers' actions! If it wasn't for you honest
sellers, I would have moved on long ago!
We need to check out other auction sites and start listing there.
There are a few of them that are smaller, but once anyone in this
club starts getting involved, it is just word of mouth that gets us
together anyway, so it really doesn't matter what site we bid at
(after all, we are a bit of a closed shop, since no one else will bid
on a 600 tire, if they don't own a 600).
And to those of you (like Miles, and Bill, and Tim) who have done
business with me in the past, thanks for taking my checks, and the
way you have done business.
