Popo Green Z600

Post by kristoferdahl »

Does anyone have a good photograph of a Popo Green Z600?
Our green Z600 has at one point been resprayed (not very well) to a
very nice green color over the top of the original Popo green.
We were going to restore it to the original color when we do the body
work. I'm just concerned, based on the interior color and the engine
bay that it may be such a damned ugly color that I may not be able to
bring myself to do it.
I'm hoping that a nice photo of an original car will convince me that
it isn't as bad as I think.

My car is blue under the green I have and I am going  to change it back to blue,  but a bit different.  I am hoping for 1967 corvette blue.  I have no idea of when I am going to get to it..  price to paint and fix dents etc. is $3500 so I am going to do most of it...

I'm pretty sure mine is the popo green.  (The green that is not the anti-freeze color)  Attached is the only photo I have on my computer.  I hope it helps.

Yep,  that is the green color used on the Z600 for the USA.   I can understand the blue, yellow, and orange colors chosen for the coupe but I never understood why this olive green color was chosen.  It is ugly and it is not very visible when in a crowd of cars on the highway.   Does anyone know japanese?  Is "popo green" the same as "puke green".

My '71 sedan was yellow and where I can see it I don't think too much of the yellow.   I want to be seen on hiway.  I bought a gallon of John Deere yellow for $29.95. instead of a hundred or more at an auto paint store.    It's enamel and stays on tractors and such for years.
A guy that works for a paint and body shop said he would paint it for free.
I told him they could put a ad sign on it for the labor.  First I have a little minor body work to do which will take me some time as I don't get much done per week.  But if I can keep sucking on this oxygen I'll get it done.

Here is the chip chart from the dealer brochure that shows popo green.  The pic of the car showed it correctly.

Funny how it's tough to find a picture of the car in green (?!?)

I have seen the original japanese market brochure for the Z cars and the colors chosen for japan where much nicer than US domestic market colors. Probably American managment at Honda thought the colors in Japan where to bright and chose less flashy colors for the US market
