Flywheel removal

Anyone have any good tips on removing the flywheel?
After doing a little more digging on my no charging issue, I found that two of the white wires coming from the alternator are shorted while doing the patented wiggle test. So, it looks like the flywheel needs to come off to gain access to the wires with the missing insulation.

Worth the try,  Call up your local Honda Dealer and ask to borrow their puller, most have them.  It is a tool you need to pull the stator (fly wheel)

Not a bad idea.  I'll give them a call, worst they can say is no.  Is the puller basically a large bolt that screws into the rotor/ flywheel and pushes against the end of the crankshaft?

Yes,  it was a special bolt with a fine thread.  You might check the past message postings on this subject.  I was under the impression Miles had sold out of the rotor puller but if you go to motorcycle part websites,  they have a rotor puller bolt which will work.

Here you go..... 24mm wide,  27mm long (the portion which is involved in pressing off the rotor), and the pitch is 1.5mm.    In the K & L catalog  2009 (pg 101) they have a 24mm, 1.5mm pitch removal tool with part number 35-4266.   I think this tool may work if the threaded portion is long enough.  It is important the length of the removal portion is at least 27 mm so you have enough length to press off the rotor.  Otherwise,  you have to end up adding some washers or metal disks to make up for the lack of length on the rotor removal shaft.
Let us know if you are successful in repairing the wiring issues on your rotor.  That appears to be a major undertaking you are embarking on if you are planning on repairing a broken wire in the rotor.
