I will try and defend the honor of the Honda 600.
OK, Roman brought up some interesting points about how bad the Honda handles. Roman races and so do I, OK mines an enduro go-Kart and his is a high powered car. But, if I pick a tight twisty track with very little straight sections, I think my Go-kart with 4.5 in slicks up front with 6.5 rears will beat his race car. I am 1" off the ground, lay flat on my back and the kart with me in it weighs only 365 lb's. Even though he has a huge tire/HP advantage.
My point is does the Honda handle bad, yes, but put 10 x 3.5 wheels with a 145 tire on any car and it would handle even worse. 1,375 lb's and stiff suspension helps, but the car sits too high, the track is narrow and the front to rear weight bias is 64/36. That is a huge disavantage!
Roman, like you I enjoy a challenge, so I plan on keeping my 600 stock. Then it will be more fun to "race" the big cars on the road as I go to work.

I never had much complaint about thier handling.I run everything to the max. I raced for years,ran modified dirt circle track. Short coarse off road, mud bogg, Drag bracket racing and a few years street racing. I have my Datsun 510 to go roadcoarse racing, and plan to autocross the 600 coupe.On my 600 coupe I am running 7" Hoosiers and also have slicks for it. Mine is lowered about 4" and has a coilover rear suspension. I dont know how it will handle,but I will find out. Also I had a 600 coupe years back that I ran the wheels reversed like we used to do the old VWs

Speed limits range from 25 to 65mph.
But, driving my 600 coupe I can have a race twice a day!
OK, nobody else will know it, but who cares. I am trying to make every shift perfect at the red line, clutch out at the perfect time, no brake can't loose momentum, look ahead pick the best lane, draft the minivan to the front of the pack....
Everyday I can try to improve on my best lap time.
Plus I can run the car to the redline in every gear and not get a speeding ticket!
This could be fun.
I can't wait to go to work!

they have potential ! I follow a lot of japanese pages on the z/n 360 race cars and they can be fast race cars. they pump them to 500cc with over 50hp then lower and put them on diet. I assume they are decently fast at that point. I mean if your gonna have a series for a particular car they have to be somewhat fast. my car is in the works but mine will be lowered on my cosmic wheels with camber plates from japan, with z360 grill and rear plate cover. oh ya I also have twin port head and carb set up from japan. thinking a 50+ hp car will actually be a lot of fun.

Yes,too many toys to use. I run the crap out of one until it brakes and fix another to play with it for a while. I kind of rotate through my cars like that.The one that keeps going no matter how hard I punish it is the 70 Opel GT. 374K on original engine. My shop is at my home,so no commute for me anymore. But travel a lot to car shows.

It's nice to pick the car you want to drive in the morning. The Honda 600 is up there with the other under powered cars and trucks. Anything that will land a ticket on the free way is the wrong vehicle for us older kids. I manage to get about 70 miles on my Vette each year and a few thousand on my Honda 600's. The only time I had a Honda 600 above 78 mph was when I mixed the speedometer gears. A constant trans mission speedometer gear has one less tooth and makes you think your Honda 600 is flying down the road.
If the struts, shocks and rack pinion bushings are good they handle ok. And 5 inch or wider rims with the same 145X10 tire are better as they keep more rubber on the road. At speed them skinny (3.5 inch) rims have my Honda's riding the grooves in the freeway like a slot car.
But I am one of the lucky ones; my bride of 39 years, looks at my toys with a smile on her face and keeps the jokes to a minimum. Any woman who would put up with 20 motors , 4 tool boxes and a restoration project that has been in the works since 1995 and still resting in the garage is a Saint.

Bill, nice to have someone back you up for 39 years!
She puts up with you and your hobbies, that's all that most men want.
My coupe is getting closer to completion, the body work is slowing me down. The engine/transaxle has been done for months.
The tires I have for my coupe look OK but they are older. So they have gotten harder. When i get on the road I will get some better tires, maybe wider wheels.
Motor Trend had a good artical about modifying the suspension for handling in the .83G range.
No rush to modify my coupe, I might like it the way it is!

Brad, I will leave it stock unless I feel it's so bad it's not safe.
Or everyone on the road is honking there horn at me for going to slow.
Question, when you are at the limit of the tires grip, does the front end "push" under steer, like most front wheel drive cars?
