Tires / Rims
Going to start shining up my 10" rims and had a question about having the tires taken off the rims (and later, put back on!).
Should I just head over to Big-O or Les Schwab?
I don't want the rims mangled!
Just trying to be proactive here!
Thanks.

Tires / Rims
Any advice on removing tires from rims?
Can any tire shop handle this?
Thanks for any info.

Re: Tires / Rims
Most tire shops car remove the wheels. I just shipped around to find a place to mount and balance mine because I had them powder coated. All but 1 place I went to had a machine small enough to do them.

Okay, good advice. I am going to go for powder coating, so get them mounted and balanced afterwards will be necessary!

Re: Tires / Rims
My powder coater charged me 350$ for 5 wheels. He did all the prep and they turned out great. Would have been cheaper if I would have sandblasted the wheels myself but I was in a hurry so I didn't have time.

Ok. I got a quote for $50-75 per wheel depending on color. I intend to go with silver to look as original as possible.

Re: Tires / Rims
Damn I got mine done for $25 a rim. If your doing the stock steel wheels you can go to Les Schawb, if you are in a state where they are at and those are $20 each through them and they will brake them down and re-mount them as well. $350 ouch. $150 for 4 rims and my front grill Kurt

Re: Tires / Rims
Hey Kurt - there is a Les Schawb nearby (here in northern Calif). In addition to removing tire and re-mounting, did the $25 per wheel include powder coating?

Re: Tires / Rims
Ya this was the first time it's been this expensive dont know why. All the other items I've had done have been very cheap.
The quality is great and I had them dome in 4 days though so I can't complain.
