No power under load? Engine, starts, idles and revs perfectly

A tooth or 2 off could make total sense though.  Follow Bills instructions for checking timing via the manual and it would solve all your issues

I had a similar problem with the engine running great, flying down the freeway at 65 and it felt heavy, I replaced the center silencer and muffler now it screams, but because the center pipe is replaced with a straight line muffler it is a bit loud, but okay.
And its much better pickup and nice power at top end.
I would check them out.

Also, don't leave out the jets, these are the three jets located in the center of the later carb.  I use a set of dental root canal hand drills to open the holes.  The dental tools are really great because they are strong and will clean the gum and crud really well.

This is a real long shot but will give exactly the symptoms that you describe. If your carb has ever been apart check to be sure the float is installed right side up. It will install upside down, and if it is the car will start, idle and run normally until it needs a lot of fuel flow - high speed or high load - and then it will starve for fuel and lose power.
Don't ask how I know this or why it took me and a real Honda engine expert two years to figure this out. The upside is that you get really good fuel mileage. I got 52 mpg on a trip across Michigan to a car show, but the car absolutely would not go over 60 miles per hour or go up the slightest incline without slowing to 50 mph. Funny now, wasn't at the time.

Running well, these things really don't lack for go if you're willing to rev it.
The level mark across the camshaft sprocket goes parallel to the
engine, not the ground, but the engine is slanted forward a bit. That
can easily throw you off a tooth if you're not expecting it. I had to
squint at it a while before I figured that out. Sounds like maybe you
had the same problem.

I am surprised that there was no valve-damage.  The cam/valve arrangement has little slack in it; it's all pretty compact and efficient. I'd have expected a piston to crash into one of them.

It's already been said, but again, why was it a tooth off?  A stretched cam chain can mimic a tooth off, and maybe its now advanced?
But if the chain is stretched then it could fail.
On the subject of impacting valves into the pistons, I have seen cams with two teeth off but the rockers were out of adjustment too so they never opened as they should have.
Lots of moving parts in the valve train that can cause a catastrophic event.
Unidentified ware is the biggest reason.
