I think it is the Carb. Idles good, on take off she hesitated mainly in 3rd
and 4th gear. if I give it more gas she starts hesitating.
And I think the ignition switch is going bad, some times she don't want to
start. I turn the key and nothing happens, battery is fully charge, I play
with it and it starts. I can used some HELP. If it wasn't for this Group a
don't know what I would do.
Thanks, J.
Re: More Z problems
Re: More Z Help
hesitation in 3rd & 4th is likely fuel filter, higher speeds take
more fuel. Other things to check that may not even relate but should
be checked: condencer must have good ground, points gapped to .015",
main fuse connections, battery connections, good ground - strap goes
from battery to coil mounting bolt then to engine - must have all 3
connections, Coupe has seperate fuel pump fuse - could have melted at
one end, starter solenoid connection black with yellow stripe, along
with the condencer there is a special clip that holds the blue wire
intact to the condencer base, after years of acceleration this clip
can wear into the blue lead shorting juice to the points- check it
out. Look for water in bottom of carb bowl.
It's unlikely the ignition switch is faulty. When you step on the gas
the vacuum advance moves - could be shorting something, run car with
points lid off also. If you turn the key and hear a click, clean or
replace starter solenoid.
