What is the size of the belt that drives the fan on a Honda 600?

You may not believe this, but I actually was able to
get one at auto zone, or advanced auto, can't remember
which. One of them had it, and it was one of two
parts for a Honda 600 they had. The other was the
fuel filter. part number??? Give it a try and see if
they still have it!

Hi Jeff and Kevin;
Here are three numbers for different brands of the same belt.
Flag - 42013
Dayco - 15420
Gates - 7420
all work fine.

Thanks Bill! Now what are you using for a fuel filter? I pulled my
tank down as the car has been sitting so long the pick-up tube is
plugged. Right now it is getting a Miratic acid bath. It is looking
better, but those tubes are tough.

Use a speedometer cable on electric drill or cordless drill to Roto-
Rooter the hard line of the fuel system. Don't leave the Muriatic
solution in too long, will eat through the tank, hope you have the
sender off - that stuff eats aluminum.
The Fan belts I use are
Gates: 7425
Generic #: 10425

Hi Kevin;
I use a old speedometer cable on a drill to remove the crud from the
tubes. Fuel Filter same as 73-79 Honda Civic filter.

Go to Hirsch Automotive www.hirschauto.com for some of the best tank sealer
I have ever used. Even if you have pin holes in your tank it will seal
them.

Bill,
I tried the speedometer cable trick with no luck. The cable just
jammed up and then unraveled. Instead I used a wire and slowly
worked out the goo. I broke off about 3 wires in the tube before it
cleared up. With the broken off wires, I thought I would have to do
tank surgery, but I kept at it and finally fished them all out. I
was able to grab the pick-up tube with a wire and bend it slighly
toward the drain hole so I could work from both directions. Lots of
Carb cleaner was used as a lube and cleaner for the wire as it was
drilling the mess out. I sure am glad that is over! The tank is
back in and all looks well.

I purchased a new fan belt from the part numbers that were given to
my by the group. Now, How do I replace it? Do I have to remove the
carb? Do I have to remove the fan housing? Any info will be a great
help, as my owners manual only tells me how to adjust it.

Hi Nick;
No, you could pull the Battery, then loosen the lower wheel of the two,
push it toward the fan, remove the old belt. Double the new belt and push
it in to the fan opening tuck the lower part of the belt down and up over
the lower wheel and the other on the upper wheel and down to the crankshaft
pulley. pull the lower wheel toward the battery and tighten the nut.
Remember to hold the belt together as in the belt tightening instructions.
