I am now back in the “club” after being without a 600 for 6 years…I just picked up a Z600 this week and on the way home had catastrophic electrical failure…the system was discharging bad enough to drain the battery and eventually lose spark. I do have a shop manual and was looking at the possible failure suspects: brushes (yikes!), diode, (hmmm) or regulator.
Anyone have experience or ideas on what I should check first or what is normal to go bad? I did a voltage check of the battery at 12.85 volts static and 12.78 running to give you an idea of the amount of discharge happening. If it is the regulator, should I try adjusting/cleaning it?
