Hello everyone,
my first post here (I am sure its not the last) I have a AN600 (#
ANXXX-XXX-XXXX) which I am trying to restore. The car was sitting in
the backyard of the person I got it from since 1991. He claims it was
running but then chain jumped a gear. It looks pretty bad on photos
(I added few pics in the album Nick's an600) but even though it was
sitting for so many years outside without cover, there is almost no
corrosion. Interior is was all there but needs to be redone, And the
engine looks complete to me except it is missing oil cap and points
(I am not sure what pieces are there and what not) This brings me to
my first question:
Where can i get parts needed for this area?(I know that some people
in the forum specialize in supplying certain parts, but was not able
to figure out whom to ask for pieces for distributor )Maybe someone
got a spare I can buy?
Another question I hope someone can help me with is what is the best
way to deal with dents on the roof. Since car was parked in this guys
backyard without any protection, his kids dropped a ball few times on
its roof (maybe more then a ball) which left large dents. I cant
figure out how to fix those inexpensively? My last resort solution is
conversion to a rag top (which I dont want to do)
Ok an just one more question (for a first post), I disassembeled the
engine because it was all greased up with oil so i figure gaskets
probably have to be replaced and also I was not sure about this chain
which jumped a tooth.(after scary posts about reliability of old
chain I figured it would be best to look inside and see if any damage
was done?) The engine looks ok inside, no bent valves or broken
pistons (thanks god) but it has alot of carbon on both pistons and
valves. What would be the best way to clean those? And I alsowread
about cuting my own replacement gaskets, but how about head gasket? (
I dont think putting an old head gasket back is such a good idea?)
Anyways I hope i did not bore everyone to death, thanks for help in
advance.
PS: I am in Redwood City (bay area, ca) and car has 91000 miles (just
a bit more info)
