need urgent help with fuel sending unit

When I purchased my n600 the fuel sending unit never reported a thing.
Today I dropped the tank and here is how the unit looks:

From what I can tell it is missing a part. Hopefully I'm wrong about that.
I'd like to have this car up and running by the end of the week, so that
includes a new sending unit, or getting this one working. Can anyone tell
me if the wires can be connected to the two connections shown? Every
pictures I've seen of a sending unit has a roundish top on it, unlike this.
If this appears to be a little too broken to use, does anyone have a working
unit they can sell me and ship out on monday? Or, is there an aftermarket
unit that will work?

It is all there, except your ground wire is broken off the round terminal next to the spade terminal. I had one that, the arm was rusted solid, but spraying it with lots of WD-40, and GENTLY working it until it freed up, it actually worked when I got done with it.

I dont know for sure, but i would bet it just uses 12 volts. The fuel sender is just a variable resistor, and the gas gauge works like an ohm meter.

That's good to know for future replacement issues.
I managed to disect the unit and solder on a new wire connection without much issue.  It seems to be working like a charm now. :)

Hi Matt;
    It seems that you have it figured out, but one thing I didn't see mentioned is the float, yours looked a bit chewed up.  Make sure it still floats.
    As for the power source, it runs on body feed which is 12V.   And, as was mentioned, just hook up a volt meter up to it and it should register.
    Caution, don't use silicone gasket sealer on the gasket.  If it falls into the tank (the screws will push it through the holes) it can plug up the tank.
    And speaking of tanks, if your having trouble getting the Gas nozzle into the Sedan Filler I have found a 1 inch Dia. 12 inch long vinyl tube fits the filler tube and the gas nozzle goes right in.  Caution, push the vinyl tube about 3 inches into the filler tube then watch how much you are puttin in and that you don't fill to fast or to much.   Out here in California the EPA has a rubber sleeve that is supposed to capture the fumes.  All it does on a Honda 600 is prevent us from getting gas in our tank.
    Tap the vinyl tube a few times to get out all the remaining fuel and place it in a bag in the trunk of you Sedan.  It works great.

Thanks for the info Bill.  My float seems to be working,  I'll double check to make sure it actually "floats" though.
If I can't use the silicone gasket sealer on the gasket, what should I use?  The orignal gasket it there but it has a few cracks in it.  Is it advisable to make a new gasket, or is there another liquid gasket product I can use in it's place?

Right about no silicone on the tank sending unit. When installing a new
tank unit in my 1950 Studebaker I decided to use silicone in addition to the
new cork gasket. No leak here. As the screws are tightened down the silicone
will not only squish out but in as well. In contact with gas the silicone
becomes like Silly Putty . It went into the fuel pump and shut me down
---1200 miles from home. Stay clear of gas and silicone. mike
