The only way I can assure full safety of the group against spammers is
to change the settings whereas I would have to approve all the
messages. It would take awhile before the messages get posted.

well again, I have not seen any spam here in a few days so maybe the thing has run it's course? Or maybe the affected members have cleaned up thier PCs?
