Can my 600 be haunted / aware of what I'm doing ...

Post by mohavefrank »

OK, so I pick up 3 Hondas at an estate auction and when I have time
I've been putting what I assumed is the best one into good running
order. I've dismantled and cleaned the carb, C&S the rear brakes and
bearings, C&S the front caliper slides, flushed the brake fluid, hand
tested all the fan and pully drive bearings, rebuilt the ignition
advance system, etc. I live in the remote northwest Arizona desert
and need to get where I'm going.
But what gets me is that one of the two other cars is talking to
me ... the yellow one with oxidized white paint that has the core
support damage. Everytime, and I mean everytime I go under the hood
of that car it lets me know. The engine looks like new inside (oil
filler cap view) but I've never started it or tried. The hood hinges
are sprung from the hood flying open at speed so when I go to take
parts from her I just open the hood and rest it on the windshield.
The first time, while taking the carb off, the hood came flying down
on me. No wind, a calm day so I just rested it back up against the
windshield and continued to pull the carb. It came crashing down
again and this time the safety latch nailed me square in the head.
Stop laughing .. 4 days ago while inspecting the fan pully's the hood
again came down on me and yesterday while taking the breaker plate
out it twice smacked me. No wind and no reason to do this .. Is this
car trying to tell me that she's the one that wants to be on the
road? Fix her ?? Pay attention to her? .. I think I might transfer
some parts like the carb and ignition over to her today and fire her
up. Jeez .. cars with souls ...
