I pulled the jugs and head off of the donor engine that I have been
using to drive in the coupe, the oil leak in the clutch was bad,
checked the bearings, ane the transaxel bearing is shot.....anyway,
when I pulled the jugs and head off I found that one of the piston
rings (the top one) was cracked into two pieces. This set is the
oversized set that has a 568A on the piston. I have a set of 568
pistons and jugs I was going to use on the rebuild of my original
engine, but when I opened the factory sealed (from 30 yrs ago) ring
sets for it one of the rings was gone. :^( So I am stuck buying a set
of rings one way or the other. I checked the bore of the jugs and
the "a" set is not scratche and the weird thing is that the engine was
not smoking. I must have broken the ring when I lifted the jugs off??
Any way does anyone know of an after market set for either of the two
piston sets that I have?
I am progressing quickly on the clean up and rebuild, and need to get
these in the pipline. Also what make of piston ring compressors are
people useing to get their pistons into the jugs again?
