The 15420 number is good. I have used that belt size.
To replace the belt, you need to loosen the pulley nut (the nut over the slot which will allow the pulley to slide left/right). Remove the old belt and then take the new belt and push it into the gap between the fan housing and the engine. You need to get the belt looped over the fan pulley. Once you have it, you can lay the belt across the two pulleys attached to the fan housing and then attach to the crank pulley.
The fan has a plastic blade and does not need a high amount of belt tension. Just enough so it doesn't squeal. The manual shows squeezing the fan belts between the thumb and index finger and measuring for a gap of 3/4 inches. Squeeze it halfway between the crank and double set of pulleys.
If you haven't installed a belt on the Honda 600 before, it is easier to do with the battery removed off the battery tray. With the battery out of the way, you can use a light to see where the belt attaches to the fan pulley.
