Anyway to add AC to the 600 or somehow to make it cooler?

Anyone ever attempt this? not sure if the engine would handle the extra
load from a ac compressor. Any type of electrical AC unit? Just
trying to stay cool during the summer.

They say that a full sized car's AC takes 5 horsepower to run.
Take that away from 36 HP and that's a lot.
I had a factory option AC on one of my early Civics. They removed the
glove box and put in the fan/evaporator coil in its place. It worked OK
only on not too warm days.
Say you want to be the pioneer on 600 AC systems. The easiest part
would be to locate the condenser behind the grill and have a machine
shop turn you a double pully for the crankshaft end.
Harder would be to find space for the teany compressor and its mounts.
Under the battery ledge is the biggest space I can see and I've never
seen an automotive compressor that small. Hardest of all is finding
an evaporator/fan unit small enough to fit the 600's glove box. The
interior of a car parked in the sun with its windows up easily tops 120
degrees. If you live in a small house,the AC in your car is more
powerfull than the AC in your house! If you do find a system that fits
a 600 and works let me know as this would lengthen my 600 driving time.

For what it is worth ! In the late 70's I checked out an N that had a
small "Swamp Cooler" mounted on the roof at the rear it had a 12 V
blower motor and pump with a water storage in the back. It was owned
by some twisted cowboy out in the middle of Nev. It was quite funny
but he said it worked very well. At Idle he could kick on the fan and
when, going it was forced air.

It should be an easy retrofit. I'm sure Pep Boys has a kit. OR, you could put another 600 engine in the back to run your A.C.

I use 440 airconditioning on all my vehicles (4 windows down/40 mph).

A product called Kooleraire (google it) may be a help. I have one, they don't work all that great but they do help.

It was my thought back in the 1980's to use a room air conditioner
for a house. Remove the trunklid on a Honda 600 sedan and stick the
cooler out. Back then Power Inverters were not as common as now. You
can get a high powered inverter fairly cheap. Check the watts
required. Sounds like a fun way to motor around.

I looked into doing something like this too. I went to Fry's Electronics over in San Jose to look at the small units they were selling last summer. Inverters are plentiful and should be fairly cheap. They are also not difficult to build if you can get a good set of transistors and heat sink! ;o)
I just wasn't sure if the 600's electrical system could handle the load. They do have some pretty small units for sale these days, so it may not be a problem. I was just going to insulate the trunk real well and drill a hole for the tube that collects condensation. I was going to remove the back seat and replace it with a board with a hole in it for the cool air vent. I did remove the rear seat and replace it with an upholstered board. But I mounted four speakers on it and put a modern CD player in the dash instead of doing the AC thing. Tunes were just more important! Now that it's heating up I'm starting to look at the AC project again. :o)

Why not a forced air unit like the VW people like to put on their windows of old bugs and such?
The new ones are real trick and have a 12v motor so that you stay cool at lights!
