Boosters, points revisited

Post by kristoferdahl »

Okay, well we made a fair bit of progress on the green Z600 we've been
working. Refurbished all the brakes, rebuilt the fuel tank.
Went to take it for a test drive, and the car wouldn't move (we've
moved it in an out of the shop before). We had just finished bleeding
the brakes, and I realized that the brakes were locked up. I figured
I must have incorrectly adjusted the rear brakes.
Turned off car, started checking the brakes but all four were fine.
After a minute of head scratching, got back in the car and it wouldn't
move again. At this point we realized that it must be the booster
because problem was only when car was running. So we disconnected
booster, plugged line from motor. Problem solved.
I've read about leaky boosters, but haven't heard of anyone with a
'locked up booster'. Anyone else had this problem? How did you fix
it? I suspect perhaps the ball valve is stuck closed perhaps?
On the way back from the test drive around the block, the car started
to sputter and backfire. Naturally it wouldn't start. We re-adjusted
the points and it seemed to fire right back up and run properly.
Didn't have time to do another full test drive, but pretty sure that
was it. Think I'm going to that electrical/optical system and get rid
of the points.

If it turns out to be the booster....Here is a guy who can rebuild your old unit....Karp's Booster at XXX-XXX-XXXX.....Ask for Jeff...
Just send the whole booster and cylinder mounted on the front and he will fix both parts....
FYI...Byron

OEM N600 parts

Post by n_krizek »

Hi guys,
I have recently made a tough decision to sell my N600's and parts
that I have obtained throughout the past few years. I bought three
N600's over the past few years. One was unfixable due to the extent
of rust damage, so I pulled every good part off of it and scrapped
the shell. The other two have been sitting in my garage waiting to be
restored, both with titles. I had big hopes to complete both of these
cars, especially having found so many useful parts, but just don't
have the time. Several parts are listed on ebay. Click on the link
attached and it'll bring you to one auction, then just view my other
items for sale if you are interrested. The cars and remaining parts
will be listed for sale in a week or so. I will post again when I
list them. Everything is located in Wallkill, NY, and everything has
been in a heated garage since I obtained it.

Hi with regard to electronic type pickups, you can reset points with a screwdriver but you cant fix the electronics when it dies !!!!!!!
Just food for thought

You probably should call him and ask....I hate to speak for others...especially when he has to "make" many of the parts and I would imagine each unit is a little different...
