plastic rod for the gas door on the an600 sedan

Post by John Jordan »

I installed a new plastic rod and spring at the cost of $35.00 ,only to have it broken, when someone tried to steal gas . I ordered a new one ,and used it for a template at the machine shop  , where two were made out of aluminum to reduce any sparks . the cost was $100.00 ,the cost of two plastic would have been $70.00+ shipping. if any one is interested, contact me at shakeyleg77@...
the machine shop is Sadlin Enterprise address 150 robin dr. livingston, texas 77351  XXX-XXX-XXXX XXX-XXX-XXXX  or e mail tsandlin@...

If looks isn't an issue, try a 16p nail and some electrical tape.  IIRC, Bill C. Reccommends the rod that raises/lowers the sink stopper.

All,
Bruce D is right, the stopper pull on a bathroom sink will work.  But recently I found that they are no longer coming as single items at the local Home Depot.  But they are chrome (until you cut them to fit), and brass too.  I even got the spring to work buy drilling a hole in it and they stay in place.
But if your looking for one close to original, go for the other one.
The originals are very hard to come by.

the best thing i've found is an aluminum gutter spike. cut it down to length, right diameter, and you never break it by closing the door accidently, thats how i broke my original.  Bill
