I have the same question about what pistons to use for a Z600 engine as “ marshall ” is there anything available for this engine?
Thanks,

availability
Hi 600'ers
These engines are kinda basic, to go with a different piston, the # 1 thing is a size in diameter that is the same or slightly larger up to a hundred thousands than bore to .002 ~.003 ths piston to wall . The 2nd is piston pin size to fit the rod correctly, and piston top shape for squish compression and cylinder flow. It has been some time since I used this company to switch motorcycle pistons that are no longer offered by OEM, but thy have a chart that list all pistons by measurement not by make or model. Give this site a try http://www.wiseco.com/

Re: Piston availability
There is a Kawasaki or Suzuki piston that has the correct bore and wrist pin size - unfortunately you have to put a big dome on it to get the correct compression - and this kills the flame pattern. (So you end up losing power.)
Weight is also important because of the way that these motors are balanced - being in line.
If anyone can't find anything that is correct I'll talk to one of my sponsors.

Re: Piston availability
I think what Zay is saying is that the pin placement is off center. The Honda 600 piston's wrist pin size is one issue, the offset in the piston is another. And, jpro - is also correct. Correct pistons can be made by EGGE Machine, at www.egge.com . As others have lamented so eloquently on the voltage regulator $, throw enough money at anything and you can get it made, or have some one sell it to you.

They are listed under "brake pads"; go figure. Give Mike a call.
