Bumper Rechrome
Bumper Rechrome
well, in peril of repeating myself, I got the Rear bumper back from Superior Chrome In Texas. after looking again,since I first reported I am pleased considering how badly pitted mine was. I was considering that they were not salvageable. you can see that pits, but you really have to look. 325.00 (yipes!)
Re: Bumper Rechrome
Earthshelterman;
We had a really great plating shop over here in San Diego, "Lemon Grove Plating" (their product was so good they didn't advertise) they used to work with us on really pitted chrome. Maybe you can find a shop close by that will do this for you.
This is how it went; I would give them the part to be rechromed and they would strip it, and give it back to me to drill out all the pits. Then I would return it and they would plate it with copper. I would take it home and silver solder all the small holes and give it back to them. They would grind it again and plate it with copper again. I would smooth out the copper with several steps of wet/dry sand paper and return it for their inspection and plating. Some times I didn't sand it enough and they would hand it back. This did several things for me, I learned that plating is an art and only qualified artisans should be doing it. I appreciated the work that goes into the process and what really good Jewel quality chrome is. But the teamwork they provided helped me keep the project in budget and allowed them to do a fantastic job.
The pits were gone, so were the dents and they had a steady customer. Until EPA closed them down. The shop moved into Mexico and I have not heard from them since.
However, you might find a shop close by that will help you out.

A big Ditto from Arizona. Although I harbor no malice towards those that have been here legally for generations. the rest in my opinion are targets.

Friggin Progressive Commies are turning our country into an asylum. Time to lock and load!!! But I digress. I moved from Huntington Beach to Arizona in 1992 It was illegal to have the weapons I acquired in my line of work. It was pretty peaceful until now. We warned the FBI, CIA, and DEA back in the 80's that this war on drugs was gonna hit home and they should reconsider the tactics. Throwing money and lives at this problem will never even slow them down. Now they are killing our police and Border Patrol. Time to rethink this thing. People don't even consider the possibility of terrorists sneaking over the borders on what has become a freeway. I can hit the border with a rock thrown from my front yard.(practically) It's gotten bad and the border patrol can do very little to stop them for fear of pissing off the Mexican government.(who cares we should annex the place) It's a good thing we have our cute little 600's to work on it's great stress relief. Cheers!!---- Original Message -----

Ditto!!!
Once you let problems like this to get out of control it's twice as hard to reverse the situation!
Arizona is just doing what the federal government should have done many, many years ago but wouldn't do!
Thank god I don't live anywhere near the southwest!

Re: Bumper Rechrome
Hey...The rest of the world demands to inspect visas to verify if you can come into their country legally(each countrys laws), so why cant we do the same???...and what do they do with the illegals???, they arrest them, send them to their police stations to sort them out, then deport them ASAP!!!!....guess what, Mexico does just that to illegals on their southern border...
