All Honda 600's sold in the USA have smog equipment, you may just not realize it. The breather tube that goes from the top of the engine to the air filter housing, emits oil fumes which are trapped inside a compartment next to your air filter. There is a plug at the bottom for draining your trapped emissions. Otherwise the oil fumes would just go in to the air like any other car with a crankcase breather.
The Honda 600's sold in the USA were detuned from 45 to 35 HP. We got a nice heater that the rest of the world did not get. Some of the heaters (not USA) used hot air/fumes off the engine fins.
Just for kicks one day I took my Honda 600 to a smog station to get the readings. We are exempt in California due to the engine size, so like I said, just for fun. The car Failed the smog tests. The results were printed in one of my old newsletters, Maybe Bruce or Bill can find that info.
If we could please stay on track with Honda business and not ethinic bashing it would be best. There are other groups that require the owner to read or mediate each comment before it is posted, let's don't go there please.

Re: smog
Yea, sorry. I realized that after it got started But I must say I was not ethnic bashing just stating the startling facts. We are over run with Mexican drug cartel right in my back yard (literally) also there have been middle eastern people caught on a regular basses coming over the Mexican boarder. I didn't mean to offend anyone .

Re: smog
After reading old copies of Novelty News, the exclusive Honda 600 newsletter, I saw this.
March 96, Smog results submitted by Ken Sievert of Woodridge Illinois. Tested July 1995 - 1159 RPM- Low Speed Testing State Standards, Hydrocarbons (PPM) 0900, Carbon Monoxide (%) 09.00, and CO+CO2 (%) 06.00 (must exceed 6%) 1971 Honda 600 Sedan Results HC (PPM) 0058, CO% 01.87, and CO+CO2 08.30 So the car is well within tolerances.
Same issue of Novelty News features electronic ignition (CD type), a story of Bill Colford's first 600 sedan (price $1.00), Centaur hybrid conversion from a sedan plus more. Fun stuff.

Re: smog
This car ran well while meeting those standards and still runs great!
I don't know what it's current emissions are, since a few years ago Illinois decided to test only OBDII vehicles, but it easily passed every biannual test.
