cooling fan question

Hey everybody,
I just got my 71' Pop Orange coupe back on the road. Car is really in amazing shape overall. When I purchased the car some of it was apart. When I put the cooling fan back on the engine, I had to take a bolt off of another n600 I have. The bolts and threads work fine, but there are metal sleeves inside the rubber mounts, the sleeves are longer than the bolts, so there is slack and the entire assembly shifted when the motor was run. I think this Z600 had a slightly different mount than the n600, I may have ended up with a different fan. Anyway, should I just cut down the sleeves so the bolts are flush against the rubber mounts?
Another question - on the side of the cooling fan there is an oblong vent - is there supposed to be a hose that runs from there to the heater assembly - or where. A saw another z600 with a hose that looked like it ran that way. Hopefully some of this makes sense, thanks, John

Take a look at the Honda Coupe Parts Book and it will show you the parts needed in the pictorial.  It sounds like you have not installed the metal cup washers and rubber standoffs/washers to the fan assembly (both sides).
There is a hose which goes from the oblong vent of the fan to the firewall of the car.  You will see a round vent pipe about 8 inches away from the oblong vent.  In the coupe shop manual (pg 57),  it is described as an exhaust air duct.

Hi John, have my 72 Coupe fan assembly off for bearing replacement, so I know how everything goes.
The sleeves should be a little shorter (1/16")than the rubber bushings, so you have a slight compression of the rubber. Not sure why they would be long, but just grind them shorter. Make sure the bolts are the right length and there is enough thread depth in the block to tighten the bolts.
Yep, the oblong hose goes to the center heater assembly.
I wish my Pop Orange was on the road....
