Hi 600 Group
I one time tried to sell a 1972 car on eBay , a guy his name was Larry Jones, he could not speak very much English, and I am way rough a Espanola.
So I work out the plan with Mrs. Jones who could not do much better at English, for when they would come for the car & pay. 12 days went by, no transfer, I contact eBay and ask for guidance, they said we will contact the buyer and straighten it out. 4 days later my banker calls me to inform me my checking account has been lined by eBay / Paypunks. Larry told eBay that he will not pay for the car because I have a phony name. That in it's self is outrageous a Hispanic guy going by Larry Jones that cant speak English? but because of this, all fees / and price of car $1,200.00 was seized pending review. No notice, no email, I had to buy my own car for 2 weeks and all the loss
It is against there rules to inform you they are seizing your bank account.. All my checks & payments bounced . I was ordered by eBay/ PayPal that I could not sell the car move the car for 2 weeks, pending review out come. I lost my mind, I am on the phone with eBay reps saying you realize I have a credit account with you people as well as 2 other credit cards and bank accounts registered with you, been a member since 02, own a shop, a home, are you people insane. They assured me that they under stood how I could be upset but we have rules and must protect the buyer and his claim. When it was over they sent me, get this, Email vouchers for free insertion fees for my next listing & $1,000.00. I must just have the Irish luck and than some

Re: eBay silly-nests
I opened a separate account/debit card at a local bank with $25.00 just to deal with situations of this nature. I deposit/withdraw money as needed. It is not the same bank that my primary accounts are with. I use this for all of my internet purchases, not just ebay. If there is a problem, I can dump it quickly and without affecting my everyday personal accounts.

Re: eBay silly-nests
I do feel for you Zay, but this whole episode sounds completely nuts! A Mexican guy named "Jones" who doesn't speak English but has an Anglo name? Or the way your bank and eBay supposedly handled this entire matter? I never heard of anything even remotely like this and I have bought and sold on eBay for many years. I am also a financial professional by trade. This just doesn't add up.
I would like to see this forum remain devoted to restoration issues of our wonderful little cars including sources for parts, special services, etc.

My humble apologies to this group, in following the dialog over the last while there has been focus on eBay, PayPal, and "buyer beware". Thought I would share my seller beware mistake from years ago , in regards to the buying and selling of cars & parts through eBay. I failed to understand, & check on bidders history & verification, & the expense of buyer dispute, for what ever reason, and to say that establishing transactions out side of eBay / PayPal, as stated in the past dialog, has my vote
