PayPal New Regulations

This goes along with my posting last week about how PayPal & eBay cut in to our business. I just got this email and while my postings are 100% accurate :-P or try to be this will really make me not to want to take PayPal:
As of 11/01/10, your customers who pay with PayPal are protected for items they receive that are "significantly not as described". This means that you may be liable for the cost including the original shipping charges should they file a claim. However, by offering this protection, PayPal helps encourage customers to shop on your site.
We recommend that you make sure that photos and written descriptions on your site are as accurate as possible, to help avoid these types of claims.
The change to our buyer protection policy will take effect from November 1st, 2010 and won't apply to transactions made before this date.

For one who has paid for something that was not even close as described and wrong picture this will be nice but it is to bad that it has come to this.. plus the couple of times that I have dealt with PayPal has not been easy with no results.
It would be hard to lose the ease of paying when buying from a good seller like many here.

It's always been nice for the "buyer"....... this just makes it nicer..... and easier to scam the seller.

    I have had an account with PayPal for over 8 years.  last week on 15 Oct 10, I made a simple (less than $50.00) purchase on e-bay.  And, because I used a credit card I always use, you would have thought I tried to rob the bank.  5 days later and I just received a confirmation that I am who I say I am and the seller is still waiting for PayPal to send money to the them.  PayPal told the seller that it will be 25 Oct 10 before they receive anything.
Anti trust laws should be invoked and paypal made to go away.   With all their rules they compound confusion to the situation, adding cost and delivering poor customer service.   While the empty box is still sent.   I say go back to letting the seller and buyer make a deal on payment and go for it.

If they removed the money from your credit card account on the 15th, they can now collect interest on the money they are holding for the ten days until they release it on the 25th.

That is correct! Paypal also holds funds of new ebay (more affectionately known as GREEDbay) sellers with less than 100 total feedback ratings.

Other than Craigslist, are there any other  similar operations out there that operate similar to ebay?  Maybe it's time to change.

eBay owns part of Craigslist too. There is an alternate I have been a member of for years. I have not sold or bought anything on it mostly because there is only ever 1 Honda 600 item listed.
It's called eBid http://us.ebid.net
eBay also has a page like Craigslist which is free to buy and sell. If you advertise a vehicle on there they offer a $10.00 gift card to use on eBay. I don't follow the angle on that one nor have I done it yet. It's called eBay Classifieds
