Hi JD,
The wire from the condensor and the blue wire going into the ignition housing will both connect to the points. One side of the points is grounded via the two mounting screws. The other side of the points is a small nut and bolt combo which is insulated...... this is where the two wires (condensor wire and the blue wire) will connect. If you measure the resistance where the wires connect to the points, it will show (a) high resistance when the points are open and (b) low resistance when the points are closed. If you get these readings, the wires are correctly connected and not shorting to the case.
