Cam chain replacement.

How do you go about replacing the cam chain?? i have the top of my engine apart from the crankcase up currently and want to replace the cam chain while its apart.
How do i feed the new cam chain through the crank case?
i haven't looked at the current cam chain close enough yet to see if it has a master link on it but if it does i could just break the master and link it to the new one and run it through correct??
what if the current chain is solid? How do i remove it and how would i feed the new one through?
