head gaskets?

Post by richmccolman »

Apologies in advance if someone else has already asked this question:
Is anyone reproducing head gaskets for A/Z 600 engines?
The cylinder compression seal on mine seems to be fine (as you can probably gather from my other posts!) but I appear to be getting a bit of oil seeping from the mating of the oil drillings between the cylinders and the head.
From what I've seen so far, it looks like nearly all the other A/Z 600 engine gaskets are being reproduced, but I've not yet found a source for cylinder head gaskets (or valve cover gaskets). There appear to be outfits I've run across online that claim they can custom-reproduce cylinder head gaskets for older cars (as long as they can get dimensional specs or an old gasket to use as a pattern), so I'm kind of surprised that I've yet to find A/Z 600 cylinder head gaskets being made available.

I got mine from miles,  it's a Bill C made one.  Very pleased.
Steve Allen also makes them but last time was out of stock, that's why I went with the one from miles.  The oil leak you speak of could be due to having an early cylinder block that requires the 2 orings on the bottom.  The motor I just took out of my car was that style and it leaked due to the orings goin bad.
Hope this helps.
As for the valve cover gasket.  Mine also leaked but some hondabond around  the mating surfaces fixed of right up and it's been good and dry.

Mike O'Connor just informed me that he has reproduction head gaskets.
Thanks for the info on the early cylinder block O-rings, Eric. As for the valve cover gasket, I got some Yamabond a few days ago and that appears to have stopped oil leaks from that location.

Steve Allen showed me one of his head gaskets last weekend, looked good. Alternately I still have one original one I would sell.
