n360 vs n600 parts interchange

Post by hondatn72001 »

Hi all,
I just picked up a Honda TNV mini truck, and it runs the 360cc engine found in the n360.
As there are far more n600 parts around, I was wondering if anyone knew what components are interchangeable? Obviously piston sizes will be different, but crank, clutch, etc?
Any clues much appreciated. If anyone has a manual or documentation about the truck please let me know as well.
Cheers,
Drew

I am in Australia. The N360/N600 and TN360, TNV (my truck) and TN7 were sold here, but they all still pretty rare. I am happy to get parts sent from the US etc, but obviously I want to establish what's useful from the N600 as these are the most tractable parts.
When I get some manuals etc IIl start comparing the parts numbers and publish the results.
Cheers,
Drew

I hope you find everything you need to get that truck running and on the road.  you will have to post some pictures so we can see it.
Good luck

All the part numbers are on cmsnl.com . I believe this link is for your truck. Their n600 section also has all the part numbers for comparison. If you click on "more info" the part number is displayed.

I have a TN360 in SoCal. Where are you located? Running?
There are a few gaskets and seals that are common, coils, and I think points, but not a lot. Also note there are many differences between the N360 engines and TN360 and TNV in that the truck engines are flat twins and the Ns are vertical twins.
I have found some parts on Rinkya.com which is a US operation dealing with  Japanese Yahoo auctions. Very expensive, but I did find a parts manual via Rinkya for the TN360. Rinkya handles paying the seller, receiving and storing the items in Japan and then shipping to the US.
The people are smart, well informed and helpful.

but Ill be looking to get it restored and registered. Then I can put her to work hauling very small loads!

A TN in the US; that's awesome. Im in Melbourne Australia.
We have a few companies dealing with Yahoo Japan. That's a bit of a shock that the engines are quite different, but I am sure I can cobble something together bit-by-bit.

Hi Drew, I'm in Geraldton WA and have been playing with N360s for 20 years. As Steve says, there are many many differences. I bought a TN360 engine years ago see what I could scavenge. I was in need of a crankshaft in particular at the time. I was able to use it after some minor machining of crank to get it to fit into the N case. The crank runs in the oppositie direction than the N so the camshafts aren't the same. The Gen/starter parts are swap-able (because they are on opposite ends of the crank) but are not identical. Valves, pistons etc ok. I have 3 N360s one of which is my son's second car, the others for parts.
Good luck with it.
