I will check my dash of blue coupe which still has the factory speaker attached. I remember it was a little different way than normal how speaker was made and attached. Makes easier since dash is out of the car
I will take pics with tape measure so you will see the mounting holes etc. I won't be home from work till around 10 but I will send to you tonight.

What made you decide to put speaker and cigarette lighter in your car?

I found a mp3 input device that's only like 3"x2"x1" so I'm gonna install it for my iPhone and also need a cigarette lighter assembly for GPS and phone charging.

I replaced the speaker in my Coupe some years ago; I believe it’s 4x6 – a common, cheap thing.   I believe Autozone sells stuff like that for $10-$15.  Does your Coupe have a center console, that holds the radio, cig lighter, etc?   If so take a look at the back of it; hopefully there is a bracket for the speaker in place.

Eric, If you are looking to set up an amp/speaker setup for your iphone then you’ll need more than a cheapie speaker.  An amplifier, a pair of speakers – it MIGHT fit in the stock console, if that’s your plan… it’s either that, or find other places around the car to install speakers.

I found a guy who makes input amps with a 1/8th in Audi jack and 2 amplified outputs for L/R speakers.  It's specifically for classic cars with only 1 speaker in the dash.   He also makes stereo speakers that fit into a 4x6" oval opening.   It replaces the single mono speaker with 2 tiny speakers for L/R stereo but fits into the same opening.
