an600 Interior and Carpet Kit

Post by sblanket »

I need to redo the interior on a N600 and need advise and guidance. I have searched this message board for advice and previous posts but nothing solid. I was quoted $1800 to have a local shop re-cover the front seats and rear seat, replace carpet, and install a headliner. Do any 2cylinderhonda group members have any suggestions for a source for a replacement carpet kit but mostly for a ready to install interior kit? I am having trouble finding the right vinyl basket weave material or some that is close and acceptable. Seems no one makes replica material. Also, I have contacted a couple of recognized Honda 600 sources for these parts but they don't seem anxious to earn my business (ie no response).

Charles,
I'm in the same boat as you and hopefully your detailed post will bring us both some responses! Thanks for posting.

Woodys custom shop you carry the little speakers and such for older cars.  I've spoken with you recently about them but i don't think you have the right size for a dash on a 600.
on to your real question,  Bill Colford makes seat covers for the coupes not sure if he makes them for a sedan as well.  cost is around 350-400$ last i heard. you'll have to find a local shop to put them over your seat frames and expect to pay another couple bucks for that.   contact Bill directly for seats, like i said don't know if he only carries coupe ones.
as for carpet both Mike Oconnor and Bruce sell carpet sets.  if you go through either make sure you get 80/20 loop and ask for cloth sewn edges not vinyl.  it may be more expensive than what they have listed on their websites but you'll be MUCH happier with the quality!!  The pile looks cheap in my opinion and isn't like the original at all and the vinyl just looks out of place.  if you're just looking for carpet though so you have something any of there "off the shelf" sets will work but if you were contemplating 1800 on an interior i think you'd want it looking nicer.
never had to deal with a headliner but i would imagine most any interior or upholstery shop should be able to trace your original headliner and then you can just pick out a new fabric and have them replicate it,    i think i have an old decent shape headliner for a sedan if needed id be willing to part with cheap that could be used as a template if you don't have anything.  contact me direct for more info.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help. Since my car does not have any headliner can you
answer a question for me? Are there "bows" for the headliner? Also a photo
will help. I was just going with a perforated headliner in off white (car
is white with black interior).

Hi Charles;
    The original head liner for the Sedan and Coupe have cross bows and a hook bar on the front and back of the sedan and just the rear of the coupe.  Note that the front windshield seal should be removed to replace the coupe head liner to make it tight.
If you go to the ANZ group site there is a picture of the tools I use to unhook the head liner.
    If your head liner is ok, no tears or rips but the glue where the foam rubber was glued to it's back side is showing a dark gray area in the material.  You can paint it with vinyl spray paint.  The headliner can be removed, hang it up, clean it by washing with a mild soap, then use a vinyl paint primer let it dry and paint with SEM Phantom White which will make them look brand new.

I have one of Bill's seat vinyl sets in my car, and it looks great. I installed it myself, with little difficulty. I wish I had known about the carpet with cloth edging. I have the vinyl edged carpet kit, and while it looks okay, I am planning to have a set of floor mats made to cover it up (if that tells you anything).

I sent you a photo of the cloth edging.  If anyone else wants to see what I'm speaking of email me.
