Brake booster pistons unusable?

I recently received a booster rebuild kit from Mike in NC but think I will be sending it back for someone who needs it more than I as I think (from reading 100's of posts about the booster) my pistons are worn to far with slight copper showing and can feel the cylinder is pitted requiring a re- sleeve.
Member thoughts please!

Hi Bob;
Yes, if the cylinders are pitted and the pistons worn as in your pictures they need to be fixed before putting it back together with your new seals.

I had some of the step pistons rechromed and I had the 12mm pistons remade in solid brass then I would buff them to a high gloss. I can sell you a rechromed for $35 but not sure if I have any more brass ones but you could have a machine shop make you one.
If you haven't seen it I have tear down pics in Albums on this group and a same set of photos on Vintage Honda S N Z 600 on Facebook. I tried putting links to both albums but Neo-Groups whatever seems to take over and just links it back to the main group.

Thanks for the offer - very temping .  I would need to get the cylinder re-sleeved - will check with local machine about that and making new piston from brass.
The big problem I have is determining if the large diaphragm is good or not.  I cannot tell by inspection.  It looks okay, no cracks tears etc.
My concern is dumping a bunch into this booster only to have it fail due to a bad diaphragm.
Since I am planning to rebuild brake system and change to dot5, I really want to do this once!
I will get back to you after I meet up with the machine shop.

There are 3 steps in the bore and 1 hole in the top or bottom depending on the booster which might need sleeved as well. Sleeving with Sierra was about $65 each diameter, so sleeving a booster is a real investment. If the large diaphram is not distorted it can be cleaned and easily reglued to the piston plate.
