is there any way to monitor oil pressure on a Honda z600?

I looked in the parts manual I didn't see any oil pressure switch so I'm assuming there is none

There is no oil pressure switch or gauge because there is no "oil pressure" as we understand it. What pressure there is squirts out between the crank rollers and drive chain lube nozzle. The cam bearings are lubricated by splash and spray. The plunger style pump puts out so little pressure, a pressure relief spring is not necessary. If you install a sending unit, you will need a fuel pressure unit and meter....at idle with a hot engine 1-2psi. Flat out? 6psi?

There should be more than that (psi), I put a new oil pump on my engine and when I tried to blow into the plunger side, it wouldn't even allow me to push air into the feed side.
The manual only gives a flow rate.

seems like if you have an oiling problem you don't know about it until it's to late

I fitted  an oil pressure and a temperature gauge (on a tee as in the external oil filter modification) in mine to check  if the turbo bearings were taking any "pressure" with the turbo oil line closed or open the pressure was 20psi at idle and 22psi at 5000 rpm as mentioned before there is a lot of flow to lubricate the main and big end bearings which are in effect open to atmosphere and is part of the cooling system this was with a good pump body and plunger so 20 psi ish is good hope this helps.

As Don said there is lots of flow and at idle the pump is pushing all the oil in the engine through it every minute.  There are several ways of connecting a oil pressure gauge to the engine.
The one I use is on the remote filter.
It gives you an outlet for both pressure and temperature of the oil.
I see zero PSI at idle or 1100 RPM’s after the engine is warmed up.
At 3000 RPM’s there is about 9 or 10 PSI, which seems to be the max I get to 6000 RPM’s.
With a brand new oil pump, rod and housing there was 30 PSI at idle, but that only lasted for about a week.
But ask anyone that left the oil fill cap off his Honda 600 engine and started it up how much oil is pumping…
