Speaking of melted bushings....I bought out Transpac of all their Honda 600 parts about 20 years ago.
I got about 41 sedan front sway bar bushings which I sold all but kept one. I still have the one but it is worthless,
it turned to goo just sitting in the bag.
I was thinking the steering rack bushings were rubberized to absorb shock from hitting curbs etc preventing broken
housing. Since then I have seen even steel bushings installed. I made myself some bronze solid as well as the delrin type
and was selling the black delrin until last year - very slow movers.

Miles; But every car out there needs them. They just don’t or didn’t know and were changing the tie rod ends and ball joints which we know didn’t solve the problem.

I must have bought your last set of Delrin bushings this summer. You said you found a set on your desk.
Anyways, they are installed and working fine. I had about 5-6inches of play in the steering wheel which is all but gone now.
Thanks!

Re: Melted Bushings...
I changed the subject away from the steering rack bushings to show the rubber quality of
another Honda part that had melting problems new in bag.
I agree every car needs the rack bushings replaced, but for me to supply them is a tedious task
and initial $1000 outlay of funds, where I rather wholesale a bunch to Mike O or Ray Cave and let
them resell them. I was making the bushings in my garage on my lathe as well as the much needed
upper shifter bushings which are actually fun to make!
