OK, according to my 1967 Datsun 411 service manual, the front bearing race
is taped out with a drift punch from the opposite side of the hub. The
replace by using a bearing race and seal installation tool (what amounts to
being a flat plate the same OD as the race or seal) and tap it back in
place. Note if the hub is larger because of age and use, you may have to
use a pointed punch to dimple the surface where the race will seat to
enlarge the surface. This is done by "X-ing" the dimples numerous times to
keep the race centered when it is reinstalled. Or you can take it to a
machine shop and have it sleeved or welded to increase it's ID. I would say
look for another hub, but a used one may have the same problem.
If it is your rear axle, then it needs to be pressed off and pressed on
again as an assembly with the brake disc.

well! you are a man of many parts! I followed this
proceedure today and it all worked brilliantly. I
think I did the best bearing replace repack I ever
